I'm looking for definitive help on the following issue. With both the LAN connection and wireless connections enabled on my laptop in Windows 7, one takes priority over another arbitrarily. Under the cmd /k route print the priority metric is displayed, however, manually changing the metric number under advanced settings in network connections does not result in a visible change afterwards or generates a Microsoft ISATAP adapter 2 item with the assigned metric, rather than the actual PCI controller/card.
Additionally, arrowing up in the Adapters and Bindings box to set the connection priority also does not reflect in the cmd line display of priority metrics. We have near 50 standalone laptops using Windows 7 Professional without a server in our network and the out of box priority on each differs - some have a higher wireless metric or vice versa.
Even under task manager > networking, the wireless appears simultaneously with the LAN connection and displays network utilization although technically the LAN connection, as having priority on my computer, should be the only adapter actively serving as connection.
I am trying to keep both connections on so users can default to the LAN hard line connection while in their cubicles and then can physically disconnect to walk around and roam on the wireless network without having to disable/enable the wireless connection repeatedly.
It appears this function/feature may be a glitch or bug in Windows 7?
