Audio crackling with default Windows 7 drivers

Hi,

I've been having problems with my audio drivers for Windows 7 for quite a while, now. At first I thought it was somehow related to my FiiO E17 that I was using for audio for a long time, but now that I got a new DAC - the ODAC, I have realized that there must be a problem with the default audio driver for Windows 7. Both these devices are plug-and-play and use standard drivers (USBAUDIO.sys?).

When it happens:
After not using any audio for some period (maybe 5 minutes?) this problem emerges. If I listen to audio continuously, this problem never arises.

What happens:
After a while, when playing anything audio, be it via a browser, audio player or video player, the sound problems are exactly the same. It sounds like it's somehow wrongly decoded, as if the device is assuming it is getting one format, but is being served another. You can hear that you're being served the original audio, but it cracks and sounds clippy, and otherwise very harsh.

What fixes it:
Simply removing the usb and reconnecting it solves the problem.

I've tried the same devices on other computers with Windows 7, and I've never had a problem with them there. I've been curious as if this has something to do with power-management of usb-ports, but I have been unable to eliminate the problem. I have few concrete steps to show to.
