Sharing on a home network

I have a small home network.  Desktop computer connected by wire to the router and a laptop connected by WiFi.  I have set all the sharing connections on both computers to Full control, and both computers are in the Home Group.

I have disabled the Firewall on both computers (Kaspersky), and I am registered as administrator on both computers.

I also have Synctoy loaded on the desktop which successfully can synchronize files between the computers.

I can open and read manually from both computers across the network, but when I try to save to the other computer, manually, I get the message "You don't have permission to save in this location.  Contact the administrator to obtain permission."

Can anyone suggest what might be the problem.  I have spent hours looking, but all files and folders on both machines appear to be "shared" and Synctoy will synchronize successfully.
