windows 7 on a Lenovo T430 Microsoft essentials live mail will not install

$

I have downloaded Microsoft essentials 2012 twice and get error message 0X80040705. I only want the windows live mail program not all the other ones included. I left a check mark in only win live mail. Both times I get this error message and it also has dotnet 40 after the error code. I have this program on my laptop that is dying and want to put it on this laptop. I'd try to just transfer it from the old laptop but not sure just how to do it or if it can be done.

I'm getting the following on a VM running latest Windows 7.   Not sure how to proceed further on pinpointing the root cause.   This is happening more and more on more VMs.....  Any other commands I can use to further see the issue?

SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED_M (1000007e)
This is a very common bugcheck.  Usually the exception address pinpoints
the driver/function that caused the problem.  Always note this address
as well as the link date of the driver/image that contains this address.
Some common problems are exception code 0x80000003.  This means a hard
coded breakpoint or assertion was hit, but this system was booted
/NODEBUG.  This is not supposed to happen as developers should never have
hardcoded breakpoints in retail code, but ...
If this happens, make sure a debugger gets connected, and the
system is booted /DEBUG.  This will let us see why this breakpoint is
happening.
Arguments:
Arg1: ffffffffc0000005, The exception code that was not handled
Arg2: 0000000000000000, The address that the exception occurred at

Windows 7 with Compusec

Hi,

when we make boot configuration (via O\GPO) changes on Windows 7 computers that has Compusec enabled. These computers refuse to startup after the received the boot configuration changes.

How can we push out a boot configuration changes via a gpo startup script to compusec computers?

For computer that does not start up, is there another workaround besides than rebuild?

Thank you

check disk runs every time at start up

hi All,

hope someone can help. checkdisk runs every time at start up, even when i let it run 100% is still starts again next time, i have 6 drives in my rig, so i have to sit there and cancel it for each drive - boring.  i have a bootable game drive also with win 10 on it, and that never wants to run check disk, do its just on my main drive where the problem is

Windows 7 without bitlocker

Does Widnows 7 computer changes it registry key or BIOS settings or boot settings when these the two bitcloker cmdlets are run on a computer without bitlocker or tpm enable.

manage-bde -protectors -disable c:

manage-bde -protectors -enable c:

from my understanding, since bitcloker or tpm is not enable on the computer, by executing the cmd to -enable and -disable, nothing should be change on the computer.

is this correct?

thank you

HDD Disk Numbers differ and change from BIOS Port numbers (2)

This was asked before by KlausdB:

"I have 4 x HDDs on SATA AHCI (Intel Controller) in Native Mode and 1 x ESATA on Win 7 Pro X64.
I noted that looking in Admin. Tools\Computer Management\Storage (as an example) the 1st HDD (Port 0 in the AHCI BIOS) is showing as "Disk 2" instead of my expectation of

"Disk 1".
Selecting the Drive's Properties correctly shows the "Location 0 (Channel 0, Target 0, Lun 0)".
I also note that the Disk Number allocation in Windows will change randomly after some reboots/startups - going anywhere from "Disk 1" to "Disk 4".  I can force/replicate this

behaviour by removing the ESATA drive.
Is this expected behaviour?
It doesn't appear to create any operating issues at this stage, however, is there a way I can force the Drive to always map to (eg) Device 0 --> Disk 1, Device 1 --> Disk 2,

etc?
Thanks."

This was answered by Nicholas Li:

"As far as I know, how the disk is plugged physically and the order it is displayed are not related. For a simple example, if a drive is plugged to SATA interface 4 and it is the only disk, it will be displayed as Disk 0. If there is no related issue about the disk order, I think we can safely ignore this."

Because the topic was closed I want to ask a new question here:
What happens if one of the 4 HDD drives or 5 has an OS installed on it? I ask because windows always write some boot sectors on the first sectors of the first HDD, so, if my OS HDD although it is in BIOS on SATA 0 in windows it is on SATA 4, is this mean that other HDD drive will take the boot info's so that when I'll replace that drive the windows will no longer boot?

 Thank you

I know there are posts about this, and I've tried using their suggestions, but i still can't get the system image restore to see my external hard drive or the image file. when i'm in windows itself, i can see the files, but when i try to restore the image, neither is being recognized.  I don't want to lose what i have on there. is there anything anyone can do?

Windows completely freezes very shortly after startup.

Hello, the past two days my computer has been freezing shortly after login, it works in all versions of safe mode, but when I try to sfc /scannow it gets stuck at 69% and when I try to system restore it freezes the computer, I have tried a virus scan and nothing showed up. In event viewer, in the minute that the computer freezes it has at least 15 error 7001's and 10005's for each time the computer froze. I cant even install a new version of windows, it does not work in safe mode and I have nothing besides a thumb drive with windows 7 on, when I try to use the thumb drive it does not show up in boot menu. Any help is appreciated!

Windows 10 upgrade

My mother just recently tried to upgrade her laptop to windows ten, and now her start menu and various other task bar options are not working. The computer started with windows seven, then she updated to windows 8, but then reset her computer to factory settings and was back to windows seven. Would that have anything to do with why none of her task bar apps are not working? her search bar doesn't even work?

In device manager the Seagate backup drive is working properly, however, in file explorer it shows up as Drive I on one computer (Windows 7 desktop) and DBR Boot (J) on the windows 10 laptop. I cannot open it or access any files.  It seems to have been migrated by Windows. Really need to access the documents on the drive. Here is what was in the log. Can you help?:

Windows (7/8/8.1) moves everything to primary monitor after they are powered off.

When using multiple monitors Windows moves all open windows and apps to the primary monitor after they have either gone to sleep or been powered off. I have been looking for 2 months now trying to find a solution. My current setup is running Windows 8.1 with an AMD Radeon R9 285X and the drivers are current. However I just switched from Windows 7 a month ago, and I changed from an NVidia card 3 months ago, all with the same result.

This is getting ridiculous Microsoft. This issue has been reported since 2009 and I have not seen a proper fix yet.  Please don't bother telling me to update the drivers, I've done that, with both cards and in both OSs. The only solutions I've read about involve using questionable hardware measures in order to fix a "feature" Microsoft is imposing on people. With more and more industries moving to multiple monitor setups this seems like a poor decision on Microsoft's part. Somehow, forcing people to leave their monitors on constantly in order to make them work properly seems a violation of energy star compliance.

The following are just some of the threads that relate to this topic in one way or another, all run my Microsoft and none with a proper fix, only MS saying its a feature, or update the drivers, or some other none helpful answer.

Hi Experts,

In our environment, we are facing a scenario where we have to upgrade the user's laptops or desktops drivers. Downloading the drivers and importing them into TS and re-imaging it through SCCM is what done till now. Is there any other better solution to check and upgrade the drivers without re-imaging everytime?

Thanks,

IME does not work for programs run as a different user (Windows 7 x64

$
0
0

Running programs under a different user context ("run as") it is not possible to change the input locale for that specific program.

This means that as long as such a program has the focus the language bar AKA IME is turned off or at least becomes invisible and inaccessible for both: mouse and keyboard shortcut ALT-Shift. Giving the focus back to a program, which runs under the current user context, IME is turned on again.

I tried this under Japanese and under a German language version of Windows 7 (x64, Home & Ultimate) with the same result. Is there any way around this problem or is this just a bug? If the latter is the case, is there any way to report this problem to Microsoft or do I just have to wait until someone at Microsoft stumbles across this problem?

Can anyone here confirm this problem?
