Inking Teardrop interferes with inking into web pages

Hello,

I have a tablet pc setup that works fine in Microsoft Products - I use OneNote

However

The teardrop (the little ring that occurs when the tablet is touched with the pen), this delays pen response significantly when attempting to ink into online spaces or any other non microsoft product rendering the pen-tablet virtually useless for everything except extended cursive script.

Please advise how the teardrop or underlying functionality may be adjusted to remove this problem

Operating System is Windows 7  tablet is Wacom CTL - 460

thank you.

Exception while printing raster images via .NET

Hello technet team,

We are recently stuck with a problem at creating and printing xps documents on windows 7 machines (The same code works on Windows 8.0/8.1 and 10).

Here is a rough description of our printing routine:
1. Create an image control and initialize it with an UriSource.
2. Create an instance of FixedDocument, which is filled with PageContent, which in turn contains a FixedPage with the image control created in 1.
3. The created FixedDocument is persisted using XpsDocumentWriter class.
4. A FixedDocumentSequence is created referencing other xps documents (in our case the one persisted in 3).
5. An instance of XpsDocumentWriter (created from PrintQueue) is used to print out the FixedDocumentSequence.
=> This is the step where a FileFormatException or ObjectDisposedException is thrown. The stacktrace looks as follows (FileFormatException and ObjectDisposedException):

bei System.Windows.Media.Imaging.BitmapSource.CriticalCopyPixels(Int32Rect sourceRect, IntPtr buffer, Int32 bufferSize, Int32 stride)
bei System.Windows.Media.Imaging.BitmapSource.CriticalCopyPixels(Int32Rect sourceRect, Array pixels, Int32 stride, Int32 offset)
   bei Microsoft.Internal.AlphaFlattener.ImageProxy.GetDecodedPixels(Int32Rect bounds)
   bei Microsoft.Internal.AlphaFlattener.ImageProxy.Decode()
   bei Microsoft.Internal.AlphaFlattener.ImageProxy.IsTransparent()
   bei Microsoft.Internal.AlphaFlattener.BrushProxy.IsTransparent()
   bei Microsoft.Internal.AlphaFlattener.GeometryPrimitive.get_IsTransparent()
   bei Microsoft.Internal.AlphaFlattener.Flattener.AddPrimitive(Primitive p)
bei Microsoft.Internal.AlphaFlattener.Flattener.TreeFlatten(Primitive tree, Geometry clip, Matrix transform, Double opacity, BrushProxy opacityMask)
bei Microsoft.Internal.AlphaFlattener.Flattener.Convert(Primitive tree, ILegacyDevice dc, Double width, Double height, Double dpix, Double dpiy, Nullable`1 quality)
bei Microsoft.Internal.AlphaFlattener.MetroDevice0.FlushPage(ILegacyDevice sink, Double width, Double height, Nullable`1 outputQuality)
   bei Microsoft.Internal.AlphaFlattener.MetroToGdiConverter.FlushPage()
   bei System.Windows.Xps.Serialization.NgcSerializationManager.EndPage()
   bei System.Windows.Xps.Serialization.NgcFixedPageSerializer.SerializeObject(Object serializedObject)
   bei System.Windows.Xps.Serialization.NgcDocumentPageSerializer.SerializeObject(Object serializedObject)
   bei System.Windows.Xps.Serialization.NgcDocumentPaginatorSerializer.SerializeObject(Object serializedObject)
   bei System.Windows.Xps.Serialization.NgcSerializationManager.SaveAsXaml(Object serializedObject)
   bei System.Windows.Xps.XpsDocumentWriter.SaveAsXaml(Object serializedObject, Boolean isSync)
   bei System.Windows.Xps.XpsDocumentWriter.Write(DocumentPaginator documentPaginator)
   bei PrintTest.NDPrintJob.PrintViaXPSWriter(DocumentPaginator oDocumentPaginator) in C:\Public\PrintTest\PrintTest\NDPrintJob.cs:Zeile 182.
   bei PrintTest.MainWindow.Print() in C:\Public\PrintTest\PrintTest\MainWindow.xaml.cs:Zeile 120.
   bei PrintTest.MainWindow.Print_Click(Object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) in C:\Public\PrintTest\PrintTest\MainWindow.xaml.cs:Zeile 65.

We figured out that the FileFormatException is only thrown in the following cases:
-Windows 7 (32 or 64 bit) with SP1 (at least KB2670838 must be installed) or equivalent to it Windows Server 2008
-The selected printer is a local one (not routed; e.g. CutePDF or Network printer) and is NOT the XPS Document Writer printer.
-Occurs on all file formats (tiff, png, jpeg etc.)
-In cases of tiff images with an indexed pixel format it helped to change the format to Format32bppArgb.

The solution (link, screencast) can be used to reproduce the described issue. Here are the steps to do:
1. Click on Button "Load Image"
(opt.) Click on "Show Print Dialog" to choose a printer
2. Click on Button "Create XPS-File"
3. Click on Button "Print via XpsDocumentWriter"

Best Regards and Thanks in advance

Peter

CMD Line to ask the user for Credientials in GUI for Server connection?

Hey guys
I am trying to build a script to allow users to connect to network printers

Reason why it has to be a script is because I want it automated for them as there are a few printers to install
The issues I am having is, on a fresh machine, which I have not authenicated to the print server before through file explorer > \\printserver\

It will not install the printer and gives me an error of:

Connect to Printer

Windows cannot connect to printer

Operation failed with error 0x0000052e

My command script is :
rundll32 printui.dll,PrintUIEntry /in /n\\PrinterServerIP\LunchRoomPrinter

It works fine ( but only when I  have already authenticated to the print server first as i said previously

What I think is happenning, is the script is not asking for authentication to the user for the print server then fails

How do I make a new command in my script to first, authenticate to the server, then install the printers?
Also I must be a gui authentication as this is for end users

Control Panel icon from desktop

I'm looking for a way to remove the personal and control panel icons from the desktop. I've been able to remove them from the actual desktop, but when I open windows explorer and go to the Desktop, they are still displayed (see image below).

I've tried removing the namespace keys from the registry, but they still appear. Does anybody have a clue how to remove these icons?

My desktop is unavailable

So I opened my computer today. It booted normally, but when I logged in on my only account, there is an error message saying:

C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile\Desktop refers to a location that is unavailable. It could be on a hard drive in this computer, or on a network. Check to make sure that the disk is properly inserted, or that you are connected to the Internet or your network, and then try again. If it still cannot be located,  the information might have been moved to a different location.

I looked for my "Desktop" folder using the search bar, but the search bar isn't working.

Please help me :( Thanks.

My Windows version is Windows 7.

Manage passwords for Internet Explorer 11 on Windows 7 ??

How does a person find the mange passwords feature for Internet Explorer 11 on a Windows 7 box?  I saw a few webpages on this topic for IE 10, and also for IE11 on Windows 8, but nothing for IE11 on Windows 7.  When I go to IE 11 / Internet Options / Content / Auto Complete / Settings, there is no option to manage passwords.  I went to Credentials Manager and it says there are no windows credentials, and it doesn't show any web or Internet Explorer credentials.  Thanks

Offline Files Won't Activate

I have a rather peculiar problem on my hands. I recently purchased 4 new laptops for my company with windows 7 pro preinstalled. (I have 9 of the same laptops already running, same configuration) Once I set everything up on these computers, my last step is to make a user folder available offline to the user. On all 4 of these computers, I cannot get offline files to “activate”.

In the “Offline Files” console, under the first button (which reads “disable offline files”) it reads “Offline Files is enabled but not yet active. Restart this computer to activate offline files.”

I have restarted numerous times to no avail. I haven’t seen this problem on any forums or in the Microsoft database. I have however seen the exact same problem in a vista forum, but the fix (which was a registry change) did nothing. I have attempted to force the offline files active through the GPedit.exe but that did nothing.

Can anyone help?!?!

All windows updates have been applied….

Thanks

Office networked default save location not working

Hello,

I'm not sure if I posted in the right forum, as this involves Windows Server 2012, Windows 7, and Office 2010, but here goes.  I have a domain environment running Windows Server 2012 R2.  Only one domain controller is present.  We originally had folder redirection enabled for all users (about 6 users).  Everything worked fine.  Then suddenly one day, the folder redirection GPO and security group disappeared.  The users were still redirected properly on their own PC, but if they tried to login to another PC, they would not be redirected as the policy did not exist anymore.  I couldn't find any trace of the policy, so I had to recreate it from scratch and apply to all users.  For the most part, everything was successful.  The folder redirection GPO was reapplied to all users and their My Documents folder was correctly redirected to the DC/File Server.  However, since recreating the GPO, when a user attempts to save a document in Microsoft Office (Word, excel, power point, etc)  it defaults the save location to their desktop.  In the past, it use to default the save location to their "My Documents" folder.  I have checked the default save location in office (File -> options -> Save -> default save location), and it correctly points to the "My Documents" folder.  It actually lists the UNC path to that users redirected documents folder on the server.  However, when they try to save, the default location is the desktop.  If they click on "documents" they can save without any issues.  The only issue is it does not default to the documents folder.  Does anybody know why this is or what could be the problem?

"Destination Path Too Long" even though source path same length?

$

When attempting to move files from one drive to another I'm getting this error:

Destination Path Too Long

The file name(s) would be too long for the destination folder. You can shorten the file name and try again, or try a location that has a shorter path.

What I don't understand is that the destination path would be identical to the source path, only on a different drive. The files causing the problem are within a sub folder but the initial copy was done by dragging a folder from the root of the source drive to the root of the target drive. This was done locally not over a network. So the paths should be identical except for the drive letter.

After renaming the root folder to something slightly shorter I was able to move the files.

What I don't understand is if these files have a path that is too long for the filesystem (both drives are NTFS) how were they created at all?

Thanks.

Just built a new system and every once in a while my computer hangs logging into windows.

i7 2600k
16 gigs/ram
Intel 320 Series SSD x2 in RAID 0
GTX 580

Overview of event logs shows the following.

Intel(R) 82583V Gigabit Network Connection
 Network link is disconnected.

Session "Microsoft Security Client OOBE" stopped due to the following error: 0xC000000D

A timeout was reached (30000 milliseconds) while waiting for the ASUS Com Service service to connect.

The ASUS Com Service service failed to start due to the following error:
The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.

Event filter with query "SELECT * FROM __InstanceModificationEvent WITHIN 60 WHERE TargetInstance ISA "Win32_Processor" AND TargetInstance.LoadPercentage > 99" could not be reactivated in namespace "//./root/CIMV2" because of error 0x80041003. Events cannot be delivered through this filter until the problem is corrected.

The maximum file size for session "ReadyBoot" has been reached. As a result, events might be lost (not logged) to file "C:\Windows\Prefetch\ReadyBoot\ReadyBoot.etl". The maximum files size is currently set to 20971520 bytes.

Session "ReadyBoot" stopped due to the following error: 0xC0000188

On Asus connect I changed this service to delayed start I believe it is for my motherboard updates. Superfetch is disabled. My page file is not on my SSD drive but on my regular sata drives configured in RAID 5. It doesn't do this everytime I reboot just seems like it happens after my computer has been on for a while and I turn it off for a few hours and turn it back on to log into windows (put in my password it says welcome) and it takes several minutes to log in.

Tried to do a little research on this but I am turning up 50/50 stuff on rather or not readyboost/superfetch should be on or off and I guess this is what is causing it.... maybe I dont know for sure. Looking for proper information.

Thanks

Windows 7 update error 0x80070057

So I am having issues updating my Windows 7.

Whenever I try to manually update it gives me an error where it says

"Windows update cannot currently check for updates because the service is not running."

I tried to troubleshoot Windows update and it came with a few errors unfixed.

"Problems installing recent updates"

"windows update error 0x80070057"

What is the best way going about fixing this, I could not find solutions online that work for me

Locked out of computer by "Failure Configuring Windows Update - Reverting Changes - Do not switch off..."

After a Windows update and restart the following problem appeared

When the Windows 7 64 machine is started it boots correctly then immediately goes to a blue "Configuring Windows" screen followed, after a couple of minutes, by the "Failure Configuring Windows Update Reverting Changes" screen. After around 3 hours this eventually changes to "Shutting down". This has been left overnight and still says "Shutting down". During start up I don't get to the log-on screen and don't have access to any settings. A shared partition on the machine is visible from other computers and a SQL database can be accessed during the Reverting Changes stage.

I can restart the machine successfully in Safe Mode and have tried a clean boot. Chkdsk has been run. Microsoft Help says use FixIt but FixIt doesn't run in Safe Mode and I can't access the machine after a normal boot to run it then. Diagnostics doesn't work in Safe Mode. For the same reasons I can't turn off Windows Update or attempt a reinstall. An attempt to restore to a previous version doesn't work giving an 0x80070005 error code.

Reinstalling the OS from disk seems like overkill and a huge investment in time (bringing back up to date and reinstalling software). Surely there must be a way of bypassing or deleting the failed update or the service that is trying to configure it?

Our small business is reliant on this machine so we are quite desperate for a solution.

Windows 7 network Printers (2 always going offline) *not SNMP *printer drivers

$

I have 100 windows 7 pc's on this network and only 1 pc is having this problem with 2 printers.  For 6 months now I have been googling and trying to fix the issues with 2 of her 5 printers showing "offline".  All printers are installed the same way via the server here on site.  And only 2 of them are continually having this issue.

I have changed SNMP

All the printers are on a static IP already

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the printers via the server

I manually deleted the ports and reinstalled them manually using add printer/add port wizard

I have deleted the print queue and restarted print spooler on both her machine and my server

I reinstalled the print spooler on the local machine

I updated to the most recent manufacturers drivers for the printers

The printers in question are a Xerox 7800 and a Kyocera 5050 copier/scanner.  Al these printers are working and operatin fine on every other machine on the network here even while this one machine is showing offline.  I am at wits end with this issue.  We have 2 of us in IT that serve this office and 7 remote offices to the tune of 300 employees (i know, its ridiculous), and I do not have an easy way to just rebuild her machine as we are swamped/this is a production machine/i dont have a temp machine that I can put her on that will have all the applications she will need.  If someone has some magic they can send in a box I would be beyond grateful.

Need to run batch file on start-up as Administrator

$

I have a batch file that runs on start-up that prompts the user for the name of the laptop (each laptop has a unique ID). The WMIC command is called to rename the computer and user account to whatever the name of the laptop happens to be. It then maps a network drive to read from a text file which looks up which Win7 CD Key it should use, and then runs slmgr.vbs -ipk and -ato.

The current user account is an "Administrator" but when running the WMIC or SLMGR.VBS commands, it fails because it's not the Administrator.

I have tried placing the script into the Logon/Logoff policy but the script didn't even run when doing that. I've tried using Schedule Tasks, but because of the username and computer name changes, that causes errors. I've tried adding the script to HKEY_CU\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers\ and setting the RUNASADMIN flag but that also didn't work.

How do I force the command prompt window to run as an administrator and then execute the script?
