"Access Denied" when logging off users through the Task Manager.
When logging off users from Task Manager, an "Access Denied" error occurs.
It is possible that Task Manager is not running under administrative privileges. To resolve the issue, follow these steps:
Method 1: Switch from Task manager
1. PressCtrl+Shift+Esc combine key to open Task Manager, and click theProcesses tab.
2. ClickShow processes from all users
3. When you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. (Task Manager now runs with administrative privileges.)
4. Switch to theUsers tab and log off the user account.
Method 2: Switch from Command Prompt
1. Click theStart button, click All Programs , click Accessories , right-click Command Prompt , and then clickRunas administrator.
2. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or clickContinue .
3. At the command prompt, typetaskmgr.exe , and then press ENTER.
(Task Manager starts with administrative privileges.)
Switch to theUsers tab and log off the user account.
