Internet Explorer 9.0 crashes constantly under Windows 7 SP1 32-bit

We have a problem on many computers running Internet Explorer 9 and Windows 7 SP1 Professional 32-bit whereby Internet Explorer will crash when accessing certain websites, one such website is the MSN homepage http://uk.msn.com/?ocid=iefvrt. This problem can also be exemplified if one starts typing text for which to search inhttp://www.google.co.uk/.

Internet Explorer will crash with the error message detailed below. The error occurs for many of our users in the school and I can determine no logical reason for why it starts occurring; obviously there is some event which is causing it to happen but I cannot isolate this. If a user profile is deleted then Internet Explorer will function as normal (i.e. not crash) for a (undefined) period of time, but then Internet Explorer will start crashing again.

Not all sites cause Internet Explorer to crash but I should estimate that more than 70 per cent do so, but I cannot determine any connection between those that do.

I am currently able to demonstrate this problem as a Domain Administrator on a test computer that has the same image as our curriculum computers, but the other users that experience this problem are normal domain accounts with roaming profiles. I am also able to demonstrate this problem using a particular roaming user.

I have uninstalled Flash, Shockwave and Java. I have also run Internet Explorer with the –extoff switch and the crash can still be effected.

Obviously, I can clear the crash by deleting the user profile, but the crash will start occurring sporadically afterwards. Due to the intermittent nature of this problem, I should like to get to the bottom of it.

Please find details of the crash below:
