I have Windows 7 Home Premium x 64 and originally set the Important Updates to Automatic Updates, which always installed as the computer was shutting down.
A recent change has occurred (for some unknown reason) and now I have to click on the update Icon (when shown) to install updates. The Important Update options are now frozen (dimmed grey) at 'Check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them' and cannot be changed, despite me being the computer owner and Administrator.
Despite many email exchanges, Microsoft Support has not provided a specific answer on this issue, which seems to be a fairly common problem.
Can anyone advise how I can access the Important Updates options?
