I am trying to use the Windows Live Mail 2011 application on my Windows 7 desktop computer to access my Hotmail.com mail. I can use a browser and log in to Hotmail.com with no problem, but I have had no success setting the WLM to connect.
I have followed the instructions to set it up given in the Microsoft site headed "Set up an email app with Outlook.com" and the subheading "Windows Live Mail 2011 & 2012." This gives a Server URL ashttps://mail.services.live.com/DeltaSync_v2.0.0/sync.aspx, and I question whether that is a correct server or not. I have no way of verifying it.
When I try to use the mail, I get the login error repeatedly "The email address or password is incorrect. Please try again." And I repeat that I can use a browser to log in with no problem - using the same email address and password.
What am I missing?
