I have a user who is unable to log into his computer. The computer boots up, but stays at the lock screen (where you need to press ctl alt del to continue to the login screen). The computer seems to freeze at this point as ctl alt del does not respond and neither does any other button/link (like the ease of access button). The mouse cursor moves on the screen but the computer won't respond to any other input. We were able to boot the computer into safe mode and log in that way so it is not an issue with the keyboard/mouse. Once in safe mode, we ran a virus scan, which came back clean, and then did a CHKDSK scan on the hard drive. This appeared to fix it, as he was able to log in normally when the computer rebooted. However, the next day the problem reappeared. Any ideas?
