Windows Backup Error Code 2147942487

Hi,

I have been having issues with Windows backup for the last couple of days.

Before that, I force shut down the system and then it didn't boot up - was stuck in the restart loop.

I then used the Windows OS Backup Disc to repair the system and it's working now and I can boot into my laptop (Dell XPS M1530, Windows 7 Ultimate, all service packs and windows update regularly installed and up to date).

I tried to run the complete PC backup but it's not getting done. 

I see couple of error messages (one listed in this post title) and the other that I saw earlier was:

Error code: 0x8078012D

"The operation failed due to a device error encountered with either the source or the destination. If the source or destination volume is on a disk, run CHKDSK /R on the source or destination volume, and then retry the operation.
Details: The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error."

and

"Windows backup failed while trying to read from the shadow copy on one of the volumes being backed up. Please check in the event logs for any relevant errors.

Error code: 0x81000037"

Tried various suggestions as seen on the web, including those from Microsoft Community forums (http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-system/windows-7-backup-fails-with-error-code-0x8078012d/c87171cc-dbef-45e3-bbe1-ef0d4050fe72and http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-performance/windows-7-backup-error-code-0x81000037-shadow/ba1a7ee1-3cc0-4765-a0a8-2c4cc05caabc) but nothing worked!!

Can someone please help me with finding a solution to this problem?

It's very important for me to fix this asap.
