Print Queue Pages Column

When I print something from Windows 7 the Pages column will show 2 numbers (3/1) for example. If I print 1 copy of a 1 page document I will see a 1 under the Pages column then a 3/1 briefly show. On another Windows 7 PC with a different local printer I will see the same thing. On the first computer I print 2 copies of a 2 page Excel spreadsheet and I see a 1/2 appear in the Pages column, which sounds correct. The question is why is there a number / another number showing in the Pages column and what do the numbers mean? This whole question came up because I had a situation where I though a printer was printing more copies than I asked for and when I went to look at the print queue I see something like this: 50/4 under the Pages column. I can't even figure out how many copies Windows 7 "thinks" it is supposed to be printing based upon these numbers.
