I was able to download a document in RTF format but when I clicked on the box at the bottom of the screen to open the download I got that message. The same thing happened when I tried to open that file as an attachment in an email. Occasionally I get that error when trying to open a document from my downloads. I was able to open an earlier version of that same document from the website about a week ago. I ran some maintenance utilities that I use periodically to get rid of malware, clean up the disc, optimize the registry and defragment the hard drive.
The live help fro the website where the document was created and edited said there was nothing wrong with the document or from their website. They said there must be a problem with the settings on my computer, but I have not been able to find a place to see and change those settings.
