How to enable audio redirection in Remote Desktop

I have a Windows 7 Home Premium client that accesses a Windows 7 Professional host using Remote Desktop. Audio playing on the host always stays on the host and never plays on the client.

I have seen this problem reported numerous times on the Internet while researching my problem. The usual response to fix the issue is to select the Play on Remote Computer radio button under Remote Desktop’s Options>Local Resources>Settings. I have done this; in fact, I have tried it this way and with Play on This Computer selected. Neither choice makes a difference.

I saw one user who had one computer set to Stereo and one set to 5.1 surround sound; setting both to Stereo fixed his problem. Both my computers are set to stereo.

 What am I missing?
