Egypt just announced that they are going to reinstate DST on May 15th 2014. It will revert to standard time during Ramadan and then back to DST until September. I have created a new TZI key first half of the summer for the registry with TZEDIT and they work on XP PCs (we don't have many of these left), but do not work on our Win7 and 8 PCs. After modifying the registry key and changing the time zone to another and then back, the new rule does not apply. If you reboot the PC the TZI key is reset to what it was originally. I thought this may be related to a domain security policy and or UAC registry virtualization. So I tried it on a stand alone pc with UAC disabled and got the same result.
Are there new procedures for how to use TZEdit with Windows 7?
Will Microsoft release a hotfix for the Egypt time zone?
