Hi everyone. For various reasons we apply a GPO that appends a property designation to the DNS suffix on our machines, changing it from company.org to property.company.org depending on OU. However, we have found that doing so removes the [Switch User] button from the Windows login screen and changing the DNS suffix back to company.org restores it. We use a password reset software that creates a Windows logon tile, so the button is necessary.
To complicate this further, it only happens on desktops - Laptops are working fine with the setting. Our machines are using Windows 7 Professional SP1, and I have replicated the issue by placing a desktop with a clean Windows install in an OU with inheritance blocked and manually configuring the DNS suffix.
Does anyone know why this occurs, or have an idea on how we can correct it?
Thanks!
Jim Jacobson
