Hello. I managed to make my Windows 7 installation unusable (freezes on black screen before login screen comes up) by, at least I suspect, denying permission to Everyone on some rpc related dll. I have a recent backup of the registry that I took by exporting the root key from within regedit. I have since installed another copy of windows on another hard drive. I know how load a backup from within regedit, but my question is how would I do this from another windows installation, given that I can't even get to safe mode on the one I'm hoping to fix? I gather that the registry is not simply a file that I can copy the backup over, or it would be simple. Is there a way to work on the registry of a different installation?
Many thanks!
Matt
