I have a group policy which applies Internet Settings Preferences for IE8 and 9. This policy has applied to a Windows 7 client system with IE8 and appears to be working. When I execute the Goup Policy Results Wizard from my
Windows 7 SP1 GPO administration system for a non-privileged user on the W7 client system the Internet settings section for IE 8 and 9 indicates a failure with error code 0x80070005 which I expect is access denied. When I look in a trace for the W7 Client
for the Internet preferences I see that the GPO that applies Internet Settings for IE8 and 9 is getting the error on a file filter. The only file path I see in the InternetSettings.xml is %ProgramFilesDir%\Internet Explore\iexplore.exe. This variable
does not translate to anything in an interactive command prompt so I can't see where it is trying to go, but "c:\Program Files\Internet Explore\iexplore.exe" indicates v8 and expected security. My Windows 8 GPO admin system gets the same results
from the wizard. Any insight would be appreciated.
