loading temp account Win7 - Unknown account

Hello,

I have a PC with Win7Pro. 3 disks: One = C-drive Two&Three=RAID1= D-drive

On install, I created a C-drive with Win7 and then moved the user folder to the D-drive. Works great on all my machines I used the last 6 years.

Reason I do this: I can easely restore my pc as I create an Image of C-drive using VistaPE (&Ghost) and then I backup the corresponding Users folder (without "my docs, desktop" to mutch data to be copied).

When I want to restore, I don't have to backup my data, I just replace the image on the C-drive, and rename the current users folder on D-drive to OLDUsers.

Then I copy the backedup Usersfolder to the root of the D-drive.

When I reboot, Win7 starts up and and links with the Users folder.

Then I only need to MOVE my files from OLDUsers to the current Users folder. As this is only moving on the same drive, this is done very quickly.

So now you understand my setup.

What happend this weekend, is that the D-drive crashed. It is a RAID1 drive and it wasn't recognized any more in Win7.

So Win7 doens't load my account Kevin, but loads the temp account as it can't find the Users folder.

So I rebuild the Raid1 from zero, restored the C-drive with the latest image, restored the D-drive with only the Usersfolder created with this latest image.

Strange enough, Win7 keeps loading the Temp account.

So this I don't understand. Is this because the Raid was removed and recreated, that Win7 doesn't recognise the drive at the same way then before???

To resolve my problem, I created an account "Mover". With that account I removed the account Kevin. And removed my folder Users\Kevin.

I then recreated a new account Kevin and started reconfiguring my profile.

So everything is back to normal.

My question, when I look at the advanced users profies properties, I find a "Kevin", "Mover", " Default Profile" and a "ACCOUNT UNKNOWN" with roughly the same amout of data then "Kevin"

The Account unknow, has a status Backup, and the Delete button isn't greyed out.

Can I delete this?

With all this problems, could I have resolved the loading of the Temp profile in stead of the Kevin profile in any way?

The strangest thing is that even though I restored from an Image, the same problem of loading the temp profile came back. An image can't know anything about the fact that the D-drive was temporary off-line.

Can the answer be that Win7 doen't see the D-drive the same way, because it was recreated from scratch (totaly emoved in the RAID BIOS and recreated a new RAID?

Thanks for your interest in my case.

Kevin
