HP Elitebook 8470P, I5-3320M CPU @ 2.60GHz,

8Gb RAM, 64 bit Windows 7 Enterprise

Service Pack 1

HP BIOS version F41 (sp61374)

Intel Video (sp57420)

States that Processor # (number for each core) in group 0 exposes the following:

2 idle states

16 performance states

8 throttle states

===============================================================

Note: this machine is suddenly just 'dying'. Black screen abruptly and needs to be powered back on.

Nothing noted in event viewer, apparently because windows isn't even aware that it's shut down.

No messages about "Lost data" or anything.

Any ideas? I've already checked the thermal grease under the heat sink. The fan is good, and clean, relatively new machine.

Not blowing excessive heat from the cooling fan. Fan not running at high speed.

Thanks in advance for "USEFUL" answers.

Not Everything that is faced can be changed. But, nothing can be changed until it is faced.
