I work at home as a part time contractor. Yesterday when leaving my full time job, I got caught in traffic and was late getting home. I rushed to my computer, with less than 15 minutes to load all my systems. I turned on my desktop, and low and behold, windows update, ok, I waited ... 15 minutes later, I'm already 5 minutes late and the process continues. I shut off the power and attempted to reload, and there it was again. Without rehashing the whole ordeal, may I say I was 30 mins late for my shift. This company pays me per minute. (Serious), and availability is based on priority adherence and commitment. Based on lost time yesterday, I get no hours today. I am asking Microsoft for $150 in damages, which includes $50 lost yesterday, and roughly $100 lost today. I keep changing the settings on windows update, and it keeps reverting back. I would really like to remove it completely, because I log into a server, and all I need is there, this desktop is dedicated to that job. So I have no real need to update, they require Windows 7 and IE 9. Nothing else!
