The serial port driver software seems to cache the last repsonse received by the port. This can be seen when data is read from the port but the next read results in a timeout. The following read, sometimes results in the same response as the last successful
read. This is on a windows 7 professional machine with all drivers up to date. It doesn't happen on a Vista machine. Also tried with a usb serial device on the same Windows 7 machine with the same results.
