Hi all -
This question has been previously posted here MS Help and remains unsolved.
Original question:
I have recently been reviewing those all important daily backups using the standard Windows 7 backup and restore utility.
One aspect which I have recently introduced is the use of EFS to protect certain folders on laptops which are then backed up using the above tool. EFS relies on the local NFTS file system to maintain it's file security, when you copy a file to another external location it pops up with a warning to this effect.
Does this also apply to Windows backup too, i.e are the files stored without security once backed up?
On opening the backup the folders in question lose the green colour so I assume yes?
The only web documentation I could find relates the the Microsoft developer site here http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/aa363783(v=vs.85).aspx
Most of the other links refer to BitLocker to go for backups.
Many thanks,
