when dangerous virus is infected the laptop do I have also format the recovery partition on which I have a copie of windows 7?

hi,

if a dangerous virus is infected the computer which can't be cleaned whitout formatting the harddisk and reinstalling windows .

do I have also  to format the recovery partition of my laptop to be 100%  on which I have a copie  of  windows.   or just  recovering windows from recovery partition (incl.formatting) wil be enough.
