Windows 7 x64 Hangs on Unlock (Random)

I'm using Windows 7 Professional x64 on a Dell XPS m1530 (C2D T7700, 4GB Ram, GeForce 8600M GT 256MB) and I am encountering random hangs (does not happen every time) on the "Welcome" screen after unlocking the laptop (after locking the laptop using WinKey + L). The graphic on the "Welcome" screen is still rotating but nothing happens after that. Caps Lock and Numlock buttons still toggle the LEDs on the keyboard but nothing else happens. Even the power and sleep buttons, which are configured to shutdown and hibernate the laptop respectively do not work. The only way to get back working is to hold down the power button to force a shutdown.

Note: This issue does not happen at all when I am using Win 7 Professional 32 or Vista 32.

I've seen some users reporting on the Win 7 Performance forum that the problem is most likely due to the 'Hybrid Sleep' setting and I have disabled that but this problem still presists.

The event logs on the issues are as below:

The following event log is of a much earlier occurance of the problem which I waited over 40 minutes to see if it was possible for the system to "wake up".
