Com1 redirection

Very simple, I have an old application that sends data to a printer on Com1.

I have delt with similar old applications where it sends the data to lpt1

I usually share a network printer out and put a .bat file into the all users startup that has the following command:

net use lpt1: \\computerhostname\printersharename

and it works.

I would like to figure out what the best option is for me to do something similar with Com1. Right now even after disabling the com port in the BIOS and removing the reg key below I still have error 66, resource not found. IF I run the same command but replace com1 with lpt1 it completes successfully.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\DOS Devices]
"AUX"="\\DosDevices\\COM1"

Basically we don't hook printers up directly to computers any more, we have network printers. I want to redirect com1 to a shared network printer. But I'm happy if I can just redirect com1 to lpt1. I know what to do from there! LOL.

Thanks in advance.
