Hi,
When I recently turned on my Toshiba Laptop, Windows 7 alerted me to an error with my hard drive. This error suggested that I backup my files. I have connected my external hard drive, so it shows up as drive F:\ so that I could back up the files. This is the process that I am following:
- System and Security > Backup and Restore
- Backup Location: My Passport (F:)
- Back up now
When I click "Back up now," the backup process is initiated. However, after a bit of time, it gives me another error stating that the backup was completed but that some files were skipped. This is where I become confused.. When I look at the "Backup and Restore" section again, it says that the last backup was "Never." At the top of this "Backup and Restore" section, it says "Check Your Backup Results: The backup completed but some files were skipped." with an "Options" button next to it.
When I click on the "Options" button, it gives me another popup titled "Windows Backup: Troubleshooting Options" and allows me to click "View skipped files" or "Change backup settings." I am unable to change backup settings since my system says that I have never backed up my files, so I clicked on "View skipped files." This opened up a notepad file that displayed the following:
"Windows Backup skipped E:\Clusterfest Photobooth because it cannot be found on drive E:\."
Previously, when this happened, I simply made a folder that was titled the same thing as the missing file (eg: for music files that were missing). However, I cannot locate the E:\ drive on my computer. So this leaves me with 2 questions:
1.) If I cannot find the E:\ drive, how can I recreate this file (if I need to do so...)
2.) If the system is saying that the backup was complete and that the file was skipped, why is Backup and Restore still stating that I have never done a backup?
Thanks!
