Trouble with Copy and Paste

Hello,

I have Microsoft Word installed on Windows 8.  Recently, the copy and paste feature has stopped working.  If I attempt to copy and paste from any email or website, Word stops responding and shuts down.  It usually works though if I go from Powerpoint over.  Any suggestions?  It is very frustrating to have to use a middle program.
