Windows 7 won't start - Start up repair can't fix - won't start in safe mode

HELLO,

I have an HP 2000 home premium notebook 64 bit. Windows isn't sarting and start up repair can't fix automatically. When I turn machine on it will say starting windows and shows the logo but then gows to a black screen where it inticates that windows has failed to start and gives ootion of launching start up repair.

I am getting the problem signature: NoRootCause and AutoFailOver

I have tried restoring system to an earlier date, a hard reset, the last known good config, and starting in safe mode. All of which have produced no change.

Have also done a hard disk test, start up test, and run in test - passed all of them.

The last time it worked I was uninstalling an anti virus software. Was prompted to restart to complete uninstall, clicked restart now and that was it. After that it went to start up repair. That was two weeks ago.

I don't have a installation or repair disc. Would that help?

To add insult to injury, my back up external hard drive (toshiba) decided to stop working as well. No computer will recognize it when it is plugged in.

I am a photographer and all of my work is on this laptop so I am saving factory reset to use only as a very last resort.

I don't believe there was any device connected to laptop when this happened.

Any advice would be so greatly appreciated! Thank you!
