Windows update won't work for me

Windows update won't work for me. I recently installed a new hard drive and ran a system restore. Since that time, windows update won't run and microsoft security essentials won't install. I followed the steps shown here completely (http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/w7itprogeneral/thread/5728fc8d-4ba7-4d08-994a-2144b79a8f96). I also got the error code 0xc8000247. Please help.
